Hi! My name is Madeline

Iā€™m a Visual, UX, and Product designer based in San Francisco.

Originally from the Eastern Shore of Maryland, I studied English and Entrepreneurship at Wake Forest University and then moved to New York City, where I worked in fashion, PR, and administration.

My career has been anything but linear, and in 2018, I moved to Napa Valley to learn more about wine and follow my passion for hospitality and events. Eventually, I transitioned into UX design because of my love for creating memorable human experiences and my desire to build a career in design.

My design philosophy values simplicity, functionality, and clarity. I love the challenge of breaking down complicated problems into intuitive and easy-to-understand solutions. At MarkUp, I led a significant redesign of the commenting interface, which improved the user experience and doubled engagement rates. My former product manager told me my work is "an example of what we mean by refine, refine, refine until the UX is beautifully simple."

To me, design is a tool that enhances the beauty and functionality of our everyday lives. Good design should not prioritize one over the other. Many sources inspire me, including fashion, restaurants, interiors, and classic architecture. I keep up-to-date with the latest design trends by reading weekly newsletters from everything from Conceptseeker and Godly to the Eames Institute and Dwell.

I am excited to expand my expertise as a visual designer in the future. My ultimate goal is to blend my UX/UI and product design skills with other creative disciplines such as web design, packaging, branding, event architecture, and experience design. I aspire to create comprehensive, multifaceted user experiences that resonate across all touchpoints.
